Short version: Tilemode works on your Mac. No accounts, no analytics, no AI calls, and it never looks at what's inside your windows.
What Tilemode does on your Mac
- Moving windows. With the Accessibility permission you grant, Tilemode moves and resizes windows and checks which window is focused. It doesn't read window contents, record keystrokes or record your screen.
- Web apps. Each web app keeps its own logins, cookies and storage on your Mac, separate from your browser and from each other.
- Your setup is saved in a plain-text file on your Mac:
~/.config/tilemode/config.toml. - Agent skill. If you click Install, Tilemode copies a plain-text instruction file into that coding agent's skills folder. Nothing else about the agent is changed.
The only network calls
- License check. When you activate, and occasionally after that, Tilemode checks your license key with our payment and licensing provider. This sends your license key and your Mac's name (so you can tell your activations apart).
- Update check. Once a day Tilemode fetches a small update feed from tilemode.app to see if a new version is available. Like any web request, this includes your IP address and app version.
- Site icons. When you turn a website into an app, Tilemode fetches that site's icon.
- The sites you open. Web apps talk to their own websites, just like a browser does. Those sites' own privacy policies apply.
Tilemode makes no AI calls. If you use a coding agent with Tilemode, that agent talks to its own provider under your own account, and that provider's policy applies.
Purchases
Payments are processed by our payment provider. We receive your email address (to send your license key) and basic order details. We never see your full card details. The provider's own privacy policy applies to checkout.
This website
tilemode.app is a static website. It does not use cookies or tracking scripts. If you pick a color theme, your browser remembers that choice locally.
